“Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food”
“Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food” -Hippocrates
Welcome to November and our 8th pillar of wellness - Nutrition
This is an exciting month!
There is so much good stuff to digest about food.
Of all the Pillars of Wellness, nutrition is probably the easiest to connect with.
Eating food is such an integral part of our life.
It is at the core of the human experience.
Yet it is so misunderstood.
The modern collective approach to food is alarmingly dismissive.
Our lack of interest speaks to our disconnection with Source.
The oneness, connection and fulfillment we crave can be experienced with every meal we eat.
Consuming artificial ingredients creates separation between us and our wholeness.
Eating whole natural foods reconnects us to Source and is where we will find true satisfaction.
Health is wholeness.
We cannot deprive ourselves into wholeness.
Scarcity of calories, vitamins, minerals, rest, water, peace, etc. will never bring us to good health.
The only way to arrive at wholeness is to add to.
Adding whole foods on a micro level, creates wholeness in our body at a macro level.
This wholeness is the health we crave.
Artificial ingredients cannot substitute nutritional ingredients and lead our body to feel dis-ease.
Chronic dis-ease is treated with pharmaceuticals in the US.
Medication today eases our discomfort but it does not cure.
The only medication qualified to cure (cure meaning holistic with no side effects) is our food.
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
When we practice this we alleviate mental, emotional, spiritual and physical dis-ease.
When we practice this we elevate mental, emotional, spiritual and physical satisfaction.
While food is central to our ability to function, and we do not want to be cavalier about it,
Food is also simply a matter of pleasure.
Food is comfort.
Food is emotional.
Food IS love.
This November, let us honor the layers of vitality, satisfaction and promise that nutrient dense food provides.
Let us celebrate a feast that nourishes our body AND soul.
The act of preparing a nourishing meal is holy.
Breaking bread with loved ones is sacred.
Food is a gift from Source, God, The Universe, sustaining and enabling us to thrive in our body.
Let us give thanks.
“So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad.” - Ecclesiastes 8:15
