Rest Unlocks Your Superpowers
It is Sunday.
The day of rest.
And Fall is here.
The season that asks us to slow down.
This is a beautiful time to romanticize our life, beginning with our sleep routine
Whether you see yourself as a Goddess, a Soldier in God’s army, a Starseed or a Soul having a human experience, rest unlocks your super powers.
All of our Divine gifts are activated with rest.
All of our human needs are healed with rest.
Whether we realize it or not, if/how we prepare to rest signals how we view the sanctity of our body.
Sleep is central to our physical and spiritual wellbeing and at the foundation of self-care.
So, with this understanding how do we honor the practice of rest?
The scientific community calls it ‘clean sleeping’.
The Spiritual and Religious communities call is ‘evening devotions’.
In either case, there is a physical and spiritual practice of preparing to rest our mind and body.
Let us create an environment that aligns with our physical need to recover and rejuvenate.
And who we have to become to use and enjoy this sacred time and space further aligns us with our favorite Self and our Divinity.
Step into peace, grace and power every evening performing sacred self-care.
Create your sleep sanctuary:
▪Mindful Hydration: Drink decaffeinated teas or water up to 1-2 hours before bed to aid detoxification.
Avoid caffeine after 3 PM to ensure a restful night.
▪Create a Relaxing Atmosphere: Dim your lights or use candles as the sun sets to help your body transition into a restful state.
Turn off overhead lighting.
▪Wind Down: Engage in relaxing activities before bed. Consider reading, listening to soothing music, or preparing meals for the next day.
Steer clear of screens 1-2 hours before sleep to avoid blue light and overstimulation.
▪Journaling: Before you sleep, take a moment to write down any thoughts, worries, or to-do lists. This “brain dump” can help clear your mind and make space for rest.
Try not to go to bed thinking about what you need to do tomorrow.
▪Siritual Connection: Spend a few moments praying or meditating before bed, asking for guidance and insight to come to you in your dreams.
Don’t underestimate the wisdom of your subconscious can provide.
▪Create Your Sanctuary: Your bedroom should be a sacred space. Reserve this space for rest and rejuvenation.
Avoid eating, working, watching TV, or disagreements in bed.
Pause, take a deep belly breath, exhale long and slow through the mouth and reflect on your current sleep routines.
▪What changes feel good to make?
▪What action do you feel inspired to take?
▪What feels easy to do in your life right now?
▪What behavior would you look forward to doing each evening?
Answers to any of the above will transform your evenings into pleasurable sacred self-care for your physical and spiritual health.
Any one of your answers is part of the formula to activate your superpowers.
Using our superpowers is how we show appreciation to God/The Universe for our life.
Our superpowers were given to us to be gifts to the world.
Activate and share your gifts.
Someone out there is relying on you to be well rested.
Note: This is not medical advice. If you're having difficulty falling asleep, consider consulting a medical professional.
