Step Into Your Sovereignty and Rest.

Stillness, Rest, Sleep

This month, we've explored rest from both biological and spiritual perspectives.

It's important to recognize that rest can also be a rebellious act of sovereignty in a society that often overlooks our well-being.

Although rest is the final chapter in our creation story, it holds little value in modern society.

Choosing to rest is a profound act of Self-love, defying a system that encourages us to neglect the importance of our bodies.

Rest is our birthright, a right we've been conditioned to deny.

So, listen closely to your inner Self and identify what you feel called to do…

Here are three ways we can reclaim our bodies and our divine essence:

Stillness

“Stillness is not the absence of something, but the presence of everything” - Gordone Hempton

“Within you there is a stillness and sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself” - Herman Hesse

“Be still and know” - Psalm 46:10

Stillness is always within reach.

It’s not just a reduction in physical movement; it’s also about quieting the mind.

Achieving stillness requires a calm and focused mindset, even if our bodies are moving.

We are familiar with this form of stillness in yoga, meditation, or mindfulness practices, but we can also find it in everyday activities like walking, cleaning, or driving.

To be still, we must quiet our minds.

Stillness can last for short or long periods, it doesn’t matter.

Allowing even a brief moment of stillness is profoundly healing.

Let us turn to stillness whenever we need to connect, listen, receive, or breathe.

Resting

“Rest is not idle, not wasteful.  Sometimes rest is the most productive thing you can do for your body and soul” - Erica Layne

“Rest but never quit.  Even the sun has a sinking spell each evening.  But it always rises the next morning.” - Muhammed Ali

“Rest and laughter are the most spiritual and subversive acts of all.  Laugh, rest, slow down.” - Anne Lamott

Like stillness, rest comes in many forms and is highly accessible.

It involves reducing activity of the body and mind to restore our energy.

Rest means letting go and recovering from what we’ve been doing, allowing us to reinvest in our Self to rejuvenate both our body and mind.

Rest can be a moment of stillness.

Rest can be a rejuvenating nap.

Rest can be deep restorative sleep.

Rest is always in response to our humanity.

While our Divinity does not require rest, it invites us to connect.

Allowing ourselves to rest becomes a dialogue with our body and soul.

Let us turn to rest whenever we need to recover from physical or mental exhaustion.

Sleeping

“Everything you do, you’ll do better with a good night's sleep” - Arianna Huffington

“Sleep is Mother Nature’s best effort yet to counter death” - Matthew Walker

“It makes a difference what we choose to experience during sleep.  Many of us think of sleep as a chance to get away from it all.  But sleep is also a chance to return to the joys of our spiritual heritage - our universal awareness” - Henry Reed

Sleep is probably the most underappreciated need of our body.

And its positive impact on mental and spiritual health is rarely discussed.

More than a biological state, sleep is a portal to another dimension that should be ⅓  of our lives.

During sleep we experience altered consciousness, dulled senses, and minimal movement.

Sleep can be a 15-20 minute cat nap or 7-9 hour overnight session, closely linked to our circadian rhythms.

Let us turn to sleep to fully restore our body.

The Connection

Stillness, rest and sleep are all the same love language understood by our body and Soul.

They represent the closest our physical form can come to achieving a non-physical state, enabling direct communication with Source.

Let’s take a moment to listen to what we need most.

Do you feel called to stillness?

Do you need to rest?

Or do you need a good night's sleep?

Step into your sovereignty and rest.
